I join running projects, take over systems nobody wants to touch any more, and build new applications from scratch. My design background in advertising still shapes my work today: I think about applications from the user's side, not just from the code.
Modernisation and maintenance backlogs
The projects others put off: outdated dependencies, upgrades across several major versions, codebases that have grown over years. I get up to speed quickly, bring the system to a current, maintainable state and document what I found and changed.
e.g. Angular 10 to 20, Java 17 to 21, Cordova via Capacitor to a PWA

Hardware-related development
From Arduino prototype to production-ready field device: custom circuit board, low-power firmware and enclosure from a single source.
C++, STM32, PlatformIO, KiCad, FreeCAD, 3D printing
Project management
Building and coordinating teams, gathering requirements and checking feasibility, Kanban with acceptance checks, status reports in plain language for everyone involved.
